Greg Valentine is a professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), and is Director of the Center for Geohazards Studies. His current research focuses on the origins and eruption processes of volcanic fields, explosive volcanism, and volcanic risk assessment. He has conducted field studies in the western USA, Italy, Japan, and Chile. Dr. Valentine received his B.S. in Geological Engineering & Geology at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences at University of California-Santa Barbara. Prior to joining UB in 2008, Dr. Valentine was a research staff member and group leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
